Must-See at the Museum: November

Big things are happening in November at the Milwaukee Art Museum – from lectures and classes to after-hours soirees and artist visits. This is the place to be!

Thursday, November 3: See the art for free on Target Free First Thursday. The Museum is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Stop in for two Express Talks on Impressionism, one at noon and another at 5:30.

Saturday, November 5: Come be a part of the dialogue with curator Lisa Hostetler and photographer Taryn Simon as part of “Coffee, Art, and Conversation” at 10:30 a.m. Learn more about Taryn Simon: Photographs and Texts, and talk to the artist directly via Skype. Plus veterans receive free admission all day, and a special discount in the Museum Store.

Sunday, November 6: Join in on a discussion on Degas and his dancers at 1:30 in Lubar Auditorium, or spend the day with pastels in the Kohl’s Art Generation Open Studio.

Friday, November 11: Happy Veteran’s Day! Veterans receive free admission, plus a special discount in the Museum Store.

Tuesday, November 15: The Museum Store will host a private Member Shopping Event from 5-8, with special discounts, music, food, and more. Not a Museum Member? Join Today!

Friday, November 18: Join in on a “Play Date with Art” in Windhover Hall, starting at 10 a.m. This newest class is designed for the youngest art fans, age 5 and younger, and their parents. Plus it’s free with Museum admission! Or, come late and enjoy MAM After Dark: Impress Me, with the DIY Studio, a tour of Impressionism: Masterworks on Paper, live music, and artists from Art Milwaukee.

Saturday, November 19: Meet photographer Taryn Simon at 1:30 p.m. in Lubar Auditorium during her Artist Talk on the exhibition in the Contemporary Galleries.

Thursday, November 24: Happy Thanksgiving! The Museum is closed but will reopen on Friday, November 25 at 10 a.m.

Wednesday, November 30: Meet Pulitzer Prize–winning architecture critic and writer for The New Yorker Paul Goldberger and hear his thoughts on the future of museum architecture. This is a special Wednesday evening event, beginning at 7 p.m.

Don’t forget kids age 12 and under are always free, and you can always find more information on the Museum website.
