What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: April 25-May 1

It’s the final weeks of Frank Lloyd Wright: Organic Architecture for the 21st Century, so if you haven’t seen it yet, get to the Museum soon! There’s an Express Talk on FLW Thursday, April 28 at noon.

On Sunday, May 1, all Racine County residents receive free admission, thanks to a sponsorship with Case New Holland (CNH). Just show proof of residency or a valid ID and experience Frank Lloyd Wright for free.

The next (and last) chance to see Frank Lloyd Wright for free is Thursday, May 5, on Target Free First Thursday.

What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: April 18-April 24

This week, the big news is that the kids are home on spring break and in need of something to do! Bring them to the Museum (Kids 12 and under get in FREE!) and enjoy the Kohl’s Art Generation Studio. Open all week long (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), the Studio provides hands-on, make-and-take art projects for kids of all ages. This month’s theme: Things that Grow!

And while you are here, share the iPod Touch Tour with your kids and learn about art the interactive way. Plus, learn your Museum Manners!

The Museum has a jam-packed week of events, lectures, and more, which means there’s plenty to do and see! Let’s get started!

On Tuesday, April 12, there’s a Frank Lloyd Wright Gallery Talk scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and on Thursday, April 14, there’s a Frank Lloyd Wright Express Talk scheduled for noon. Come in and learn even more about “America’s greatest architect” and why he is still so relevant today.

What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: April 4-April 11

For you baseball fans, it’s Opening Day at Miller Park, so here’s an obligatory-yet-enthusiastic GO BREWERS!

If you missed Art in Bloom last weekend, be sure to check out the photos on the Museum’s Facebook page, as well as on Chelsea Kelly’s latest blog.

This week, don’t miss Target Free First Thursday (April 7). Admission is FREE for individuals from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Museum features a Frank Lloyd Wright Express Talk at 5:30 p.m., plus an Artist Talk by Colleen Plumb at 6:15 p.m.

What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: March 28-April 3

Spring has officially arrived, and that means it is time for Art in Bloom at the Museum. This year’s event runs Thursday, March 31 through Sunday, April 3 and includes old favorites and new surprises.

This year’s event features the new Milwaukee’s Calatrava rose, bred by rosarian and Milwaukee native Bill Radler, and named in honor of the Santiago Calatrava-designed addition to the Museum. The intoxicatingly fragrant, double-bloom white rose will be available for advance purchase at the event, courtesy of Johnson’s Nursery.

Happy Spring from the Milwaukee Art Museum! And in honor of spring, be sure to purchase your Art in Bloom tickets before Friday, March 25. Some lectures have already sold out, so don’t miss out on your chance to experience everything that Art in Bloom (March 31–April 3) has to offer.

This year’s Art in Bloom premiere’s Milwaukee’s Calatrava™ rose, bred by Milwaukee native Bill Radler and cultivated at Johnson’s Nursery. This double-flower, white bloom rose is intoxicatingly fragrant, and tints slightly pink as cooler weather sets in. A limited number will be available for sale at Art in Bloom, so don’t miss out.

Welcome to yet another busy week at the Museum, especially for kids and Frank Lloyd Wright fans!

Just opened, “Just the WRIGHT Size: Designing and Building Small Houses” is the new Kohl’s Art Generation Gallery feature exhibition. Try your hand at building as you learn from the pros. “Just the WRIGHT Size” considers Frank Lloyd Wright’s lessons for the present day, and in this hands-on exhibition, you will lean about the techniques Mr. Wright used to make small homes.

This week, the Museum opens two new exhibitions and hosts its monthly MAM After Dark event. Plus lectures, gallery talks, and more.

On Thursday, March 10, the Chipstone Foundation opens The New Materiality: Digital Dialogues at the Boundaries of Contemporary Craft in the Museum’s Decorative Arts Gallery on the lower level. This stunning exhibition features sixteen established and emerging artists who push the boundaries of art by combining new technologies with old-school craft. Curated by UWM’s Fo Wilson, the exhibition features work by Donald Fortesque and Lawrence LaBianca, Tim Tate, Sonya Clark, Lia Cook, and more.

What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: Feb 28-March 6

Illustration for Family Sundays: The Art of ArchitectureIt’s another busy week at the Museum, and it includes a free admission day! There’s plenty of art and activities for adults and kids alike—you don’t want to miss out.

This Thursday, March 3, is another Target Free First Thursday and your first opportunity to see the feature exhibition Frank Lloyd Wright: Organic Architecture for the 21st Century for free!

On Thursday evening, there is a lecture on Mrs. Olgivanna Lloyd Wright and her influence on her husband. The lecture begins at 6:15 p.m. in Lubar Auditorium and includes a screening of “A Girl is a Fellow Here: 100 Women Architects in the Studio of Frank Lloyd Wright.” It’s a great opportunity to learn more about life at Taliesin and the role women played in Wright’s work.

In addition, there is a Book Sale from March 3 through March 6 inside Windhover Hall; this is your chance to purchase books (and select items from the Museum Store!) at a discounted rate. Proceeds go to the Museum’s book acquisition fund.

What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: Feb. 21-Feb 27

Frank Lloyd Wright fever continues at the Museum, with visitors pouring in to see the models, drawings, photos, videos, and furniture from the mind of “America’s Greatest Architect.”

This week, there will be an Express Talk on Frank Lloyd Wright on Thursday, February 24 at noon. Come spend your lunch hour in the Gallery and learn more.
