What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: Dec. 6-Dec 12

With a new exhibition opening this week and “Holiday By Design” Family Sunday, it is a very busy time here.

This Thursday, December 9, the Museum opens its newest exhibition, Framing a Decade: Acquisitions of Prints and Drawings, 2001-2011. Featured in the Koss Gallery, this exhibition showcases 50 of the over 3,000 works on paper that the Museum has acquired since the Quadracci Pavilion opened in 2001. It includes works by Picasso, Rembrandt, Gauguin, Nauman, Francis, and more.

Framing a Decade is the first exhibition to kick off the anniversary celebration of the Calatrava-designed Quadracci Pavilion, which has put both the Museum and the City of Milwaukee on the international map.

On Sunday, the Museum devotes itself to all-things family, with the Kohl’s Art Generation Family Sunday, called “Holiday By Design.” This outstanding daylong event is free with Museum admission (Kids under 12 always get in free) and includes dance, music, make-and-take art, and more. It’s a great way to spend some family time celebrating the season, and staying out of the cold.

You won’t be able to miss Robert Therrien’s “Under the Table,” the 10x12x20 foot dining room table installed in Windhover Hall. See it through your child’s eyes, and revive your own imagination.

the concert on sat 12/11 was wonderful! we were there entirely by whim to show a friend from Texas the area. Thank you for the beautiful music by the Barcel Suzuki school. IF there’s a video, I’d love to have it.
