What’s Happening at the Milwaukee Art Museum: August 22-August 28

This is it! The final weeks of the Summer of CHINA. Trust me when I say you do not want to miss the stunning feature exhibition, The Emperor’s Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City.

The Museum expects very large crowds during the final days, so make plans to see the exhibition before closing weekend.

And, don’t forget that through Labor Day, the Museum is open on Mondays, 10-5, to help plan your visit. After that, it returns to its regular Tuesday-Sunday hours, 10-5 (open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays).

For those of you in the Milwaukee area, be sure to stop by the Museum on Tuesday, August 23, when the Burke Brise Soleil will undergo some “anything but routine” maintenance on one of the hydraulic cylinders that make the “wings” open and close every day. Sometime around mid-day, one of the brise soleil’s 22 cylinders, each weighing 1,200 pounds, will be hoisted out of the spine of the building for repairs. The Burke Brise Soleil will remain closed while the repairs are going on, but expect to see it back in action around Labor Day.

Hope to see you before the Summer of CHINA closes for good on Sunday, September 11.
