McKenzie and Jason Edmonds joined the Milwaukee Art Museum as Members in 2015 and have been dedicated supporters and champions of the Museum since. McKenzie is Membership Chair of the Contemporary Art Society (CAS), a Museum support group, and in 2023, the Edmondses were first-time exhibition sponsors of the landmark survey 50 Paintings, which closed last June. This fall, CAS is a generous sponsor of Currents 39: LaToya M. Hobbs, Carving Out Time and Robert Longo: The Acceleration of History.

Why did you decide to become Members of the Milwaukee Art Museum?

The Museum has provided our family with countless opportunities for exploration, creativity, and self-refl ection. As a growing family, we saw membership as an opportunity to give voice to our curiosity and stimulate our imaginations. We cherish family memories made in the Kohl’s Art Studio. We enjoy date nights attending the thought-provoking lecture series. And as our children grow, they challenge us to interact with the Museum’s collection with fresh eyes and a new perspective.

What led you to sponsor an exhibition?

Our involvement in the Museum has allowed us to form impactful relationships. Our time spent with the curators—Margaret Andera and Michelle Grabner in the case of 50 Paintings—has challenged us to delve deeper into our understanding of art and artists. Knowing the passion, thoughtfulness, and depth of understanding they bring to their work inspired us to support and share their brilliance with others in our community.

What do you enjoy about CAS membership?

CAS is a welcoming community. If you’re a lifelong collector or newly curious in the world of contemporary art, there is a space for everyone. We appreciate contemporary art, value continuous learning, and like to have fun, and membership in CAS strengthens our connection to the Museum. Beyond providing unique access to the collection and artists, the support groups offer programming with a special level of intimacy. CAS creates an energy that catalyzes Members to further support and engage with the Museum.
